With over 3000 colleges to choose from, it would have been virtually impossible for my wife and me to match our son Jake's interests and skills with the "right" school for him. College Advisory Service provided an invaluable service at each step of the process. They interviewed Jake in depth, suggested over twenty good-fit colleges, assisted with his résumé and essay and gave him helpful pre-interview tips that made all the difference. Jake and I are convinced he has made an excellent choice in selecting DePauw University and CAS made it happen without the potential teenager/parent conflict.

The whole prospect of finding the right college for my daughter was daunting. There was no shortage of college reports and surveys, books and magazines, all loaded with useful information and statistics. What all of those reports and books could never determine was, which colleges or universities would best suit my daughter's learning style, disposition, interests and passions?
The College Advisory Service spent considerable time getting to know Lily. They asked questions I wouldn't have thought to ask that helped them determine, from their extensive knowledge, which colleges would be a good fit for her. They helped Lily put together a schedule that allowed her to have ownership of the search and application process. They helped her to prioritize her values in terms of learning environment, social needs, and for my daughter, community service opportunities and music programs. They helped her put together her résumé and to set-up appointments for interviews at some of the colleges we visited. They kept her abreast of opportunities within her interest areas, which might have included scholarships or other ways in which she could have enhanced her résumé.
The College Advisory Service truly valued and enjoyed working with the unique qualities of my child, to ensure that she would find a college that valued her too. They are consummate professionals in that they know their jobs so well and nothing slips through the cracks, but they are incredibly warm and caring. They took Lily and this daunting process under their wings and together worked to find many options that were good choices for Lily. Now that the process is over, and Lily is ready to leave for her dream college in the fall, she feels good about the choice she has made because she was the one who from the beginning, working with the College Advisory Service, was making this important decision about her future. |

Until he started his junior year in high school, my son Rob was, in truth, not very focused about his future. He knew he wanted to go to college, but I don't think he had narrowed the field much beyond that. Rob and I worked with the College Advisory Service to identify the kinds of schools he would like and, more importantly, the specific schools where he would be most likely to gain admittance and then succeed and be happy. The people at CAS helped him structure his applications and his strategy for getting accepted....including making that all-important leap from "wait list" to "admitted!" And I think it was especially helpful for Rob as a young person feeling his way toward his own decisions to be able to talk with people who know the colleges and know what college admissions respond to in applicants. After all, it was a long, long time ago that I was applying to college and my perspective was certainly not very current. In the end, Rob was accepted to five fine institutions and I think he would have been happy at any one of them. He has enrolled at Colorado College in Colorado Springs and seems to be thriving! As a mother, I am delighted with his decision because the process of selecting and applying to CC was one in which Rob truly investigated not only the school, but also his own desires and expectations about college. I am confident that my son and Colorado College are a "good fit" for each other and I'm not sure we would have found that out without the help of the College Advisory Service. |

Three boys, and 3 success stories! Joan Rynearson and Patsy Larson helped our boys identify schools which matched their academic interests and talents as well as their outside activities. In 2 cases, Joan and Patsy identified schools we had not thought about, which became the schools of choice - University of Denver and University of Vermont . In all 3 cases, they have succeeded in getting the boys to "buy into" and "own" the college application process, from organizing high school courses, to taking the SATs and ACTS, to getting all of the applications submitted in a timely basis. Thanks, Joan and Patsy, for making a stressful process both manageable and successful. |

A letter of thanks for all your amazing help. Alex has been at school only a month and he says he can't imagine a better college choice for him.
What impressed us so much about you and your team is your exceptional dedication and passion for your work. The level of your up-to-date knowledge and first-hand experience with so many of the schools sets you clearly apart from any other college counselors we spoke with. Top that off with just how genuinely interested and helpful (and patient) all of you are.
I was amazed at what a difference it made to have all your insights. Ultimately Alex selected a college we had not even considered without your guidance. He is so happy and feels it is the best choice he could have made. We are very appreciative and delighted with your excellent help and services.

What a treasure we found when we became acquainted with The College Advisory Service!
Joan, Amy Jo and Patsy were absolutely delightful to deal with and are consummate professionals. The service they provide is a great value, both economically and emotionally. They took the time to get to know our sons, and even more importantly, helped them both to look within themselves to figure out what was most important in the college search and choice process. Both boys are now enrolled at schools that are excellent matches for their personalities, academic interests and future goals -- Topper is at Harvey Mudd and Alex is at Yale University.
The College Advisory Service saved us time and money during those hectic and important high school years. Based on their in-depth knowledge of our sons, and of potential colleges, they suggested schools we hadn't considered and helped us refine our list of schools to visit. They also kept the boys on task, provided encouragement and feedback, and allowed us to relax and just enjoy being the parents!
